I'm gonna show y'all how to turn these into these little tiny books that you can print out and pass out in your communities.Original 'Decolonization Coven' Video posted on TikTok
We figured out a faster technique and we're gonna do a side-by-side comparison in this video to show how to do the new technique and how it's faster than the old one.
Okay, follow along, quick run through of the old method start with the hot dog fold, right?
Then you're going to do hamburger.
Make sure you leave the offset, the cover is larger than the other side.
Then you do the flaps right on the sides.
You're going to cut the corner slit You're going to accordion it together staple it and then trim the edges We've got a more detailed explanation at the top of the zines playlist if you want to know like the nitty-gritty of how to fold this way, but we're gonna move on from this in about five seconds once I'm finished trimming these babies.
It took about 21 minutes to fold 10 with the old method.
The new method uses a paper cutter and you stack the 10 up and then you cut them into quarters.
The pages are formatted differently so that you can fold the pages as you're seeing me do there.
You want to let the middle page kind of jut out or that centerfold is going to be off.
Then you take the pages and you stack them inside each other so you've got an entire booklet.
You fold them over like I'm doing now.
You crease them.
Then you're gonna go through you're gonna staple them all along the binding you want to make sure that the cover has wrapped around all the writing so that when you get to this trimming part where you're trimming off the rough edges you're not cutting off any words and you can make 10 of them in 12 minutes instead so that's the fastest way we have to make these zines.
I have reformatted four of them if you've already purchased or received these please just go to the page and where you received them, and I will have the updated file as well as the old one, especially for mass produced 14 page zines.
The old version has the old folding method, which you can also find at the top of the zine playlist.
This one has the new method, and then we've also updated the formatting on these three zines.
And I'm going to encourage our contributors to start submitting in the new format, which I'm going to put the new template up on the website for free, as well as the page number template.
It's going to be in the shop.
I'll also have a link to it next to the like submit your zines.
You can also request any of these for free if you can't afford the fees in our shop.
If you want to know more information about this, more in detail, please check out the Operation Newsstand video at the top of my profile.
And if you want a more detailed explainer on the old method of folding, please check out, it's one where I'm holding up like a yellow one of these sheets, and it's like towards the top of the zine playlist.
You'll find it.
Thank you for watching!
